Can a Gen 3 B58 or B48 be tuned yet? Not with a flash, not yet. Gen 3 BMWs use the new Vitesco DME 960 or DME 961 instead of the Bosch MG1 DME found in Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars. MG Flasher already supports datalogging on every Gen 3 BMW with the Basic Logger, free during the beta. DME unlock, flashing and OTS maps are in development.
The first MG Flasher Gen 3 feature is here, and it is free during the beta. The Basic Logger records the main engine parameters on Gen 3 B58 and B48 BMWs with the Vitesco DME 960 or DME 961, in the same app you already know.
Monitor main engine parameters with live gauges, record logs for analysis and continue using the familiar MG Flasher logging workflow while Gen 3 development progresses.
Parameters currently available for supported B58 Gen 3 applications.
Parameters currently available for supported B48 Gen 3 applications.
Monitor supported engine parameters directly inside MG Flasher.
Record vehicle data for later review and analysis.
Continue using the existing MG Flasher logging workflow.
1. Order it in the shop. Pick the Basic Logger License for your engine. It costs nothing during the beta.
2. Install or update MG Flasher to the newest version. You need version 501 or newer.
3. Redeem it on your car. Connect to your car, press Check Support, then tap Logger and confirm. The licence is locked to your car's VIN.
When the full Gen 3 logger is released, the free beta licence ends and the Logger licence goes back to its normal price.
The current Basic Logger beta provides initial datalogging functionality for Gen 3 BMWs with the Vitesco DME 960 or DME 961. It gives access to the main engine parameters, live gauges, saved datalogs and the MG Flasher logging workflow, including Logs Cloud for analysing your logs online.
Gen 3 means the Vitesco DME 960 or DME 961 engine computer fitted to the newest B58 and B48 BMWs. The Basic Logger works on all of the Gen 3 models below. To confirm your own car, run Check Support in the MG Flasher app: it reads the DME and shows which generation you have.
BMW's latest B48 and B58 applications introduce a new generation of engine management hardware. These vehicles use newer Vitesco engine control units: the DME 960 and the DME 961.
Gen 1 and Gen 2 B48 and B58 engines use the Bosch MG1 DME, which MG Flasher unlocks and flashes today (see the B58 and B48 engine pages). The Gen 3 Vitesco platform is a different design, so communication, datalogging, DME unlocking and ECU flashing each need dedicated development before they can be released.
MG Flasher is actively developing support for BMW Gen 3 Vitesco systems, beginning with DME 960 and DME 961 datalogging and progressing toward unlocking, flashing, OTS maps and expanded logging capabilities.
Newer BMW Gen 3 applications introduce Vitesco engine control hardware requiring dedicated development and support.
The Basic Logger already works with both Vitesco DMEs used in Gen 3 BMWs.
Additional BMW models, DME variants and MG Flasher products will be introduced as development progresses.
Every stage of Gen 3 support is actively in development. The roadmap begins with the Basic Logger beta and continues toward unlocking, flashing, OTS maps and the complete Gen 3 logging experience.

Not yet with a flash. DME unlock, flashing and OTS maps for Gen 3 are in development. What is available today is the free Gen 3 Basic Logger, in beta, for datalogging on all Gen 3 B58 and B48 cars.
Gen 3 cars use the Vitesco DME 960 or DME 961 engine computer. The quickest check is Check Support in the MG Flasher app: it reads your DME and shows the generation.
