QUESTIONS
You need a compatible ENET connection, such as an ENET Wi-Fi adapter or an ENET cable with a compatible Ethernet-to-USB adapter. An ENET Wi-Fi connection is recommended for faster communication and to reduce the chance of a cable being disconnected during flashing.
Yes. You can download the MG Flasher app for free, connect it to your vehicle, and check whether your vehicle and ECU revision are supported before purchasing a flashing license or map.
A battery charger is highly recommended, especially during the initial flash. Later OTS map flashes are generally much faster, but maintaining stable battery voltage is still recommended.
Yes. You can flash the vehicle back to stock whenever needed, and supported ECUs can also be re-locked.
No. The device only needs to be connected while flashing, datalogging, or reading vehicle data.
Check the supported vehicle information on the MG Flasher website or download the app for free and connect it to your vehicle. If the app reports an unsupported ECU revision, contact MG Flasher support to check whether support can be added.
Yes. A Flashing License is required to flash the vehicle. OTS maps are purchased separately. Supported Custom Code features can also be used with compatible stock-based calibrations where applicable.
Yes. You can switch between maps purchased for the vehicle as many times as needed.
No. You can switch between stock and maps already purchased for that vehicle without purchasing them again.
One Flashing License is used for one vehicle because the license is VIN-locked. Additional vehicles require their own licenses, while the MG Flasher app can support multiple vehicles on the same device.
Yes. Licenses are linked to the vehicle VIN rather than a specific phone or Apple/Google account. You can use another compatible device after connecting to the vehicle and MG Flasher services.
MG Flasher licenses and OTS maps are VIN-locked. Purchases redeemed on one vehicle do not transfer to another vehicle. If a tuned vehicle is sold, purchases linked to that VIN remain associated with that vehicle.
Tuning changes ECU software and may affect warranty coverage. Warranty decisions can depend on the manufacturer, dealer, region, and circumstances, so check the applicable warranty terms if coverage is a concern.
The FAQ currently lists Android 7.1 or newer and iOS 10.0 or newer as minimum versions. Device compatibility can also depend on the connection method and hardware support.
Make sure the ignition is on, check all cable or Wi-Fi connections, and confirm that your device supports the required Ethernet adapter or OTG connection method. Follow the MG Flasher Connection Guide if the problem continues.
Unlock requirements depend on the ECU hardware and software security level. Some supported ECUs can be activated without a bench unlock, while others require an unlock procedure before OBD programming. Check the current MG Flasher unlocking information or contact a participating dealer for the correct procedure for your ECU.
MG Flasher calibrations retain OEM protection strategies and adjust relevant limits for the selected performance level. Vehicle condition, maintenance, fuel quality, and cooling-system health remain important, especially in severe climates.
Open the side menu, go to About, choose Share App Logs, and send the generated ZIP file to the MG Flasher support team when requested for troubleshooting.
