The map selected before flashing becomes the default calibration. Slot 0 is always treated as valid.

Switchable Maps gives compatible vehicles access to multiple calibrated map locations after one supported flash. Instead of starting another complete flashing process, the driver can select an available slot in real time.

A slot may contain a different octane calibration, an ethanol blend, a reduced-power setup or another tuner-defined calibration. The exact contents are determined by the OTS package or custom tune installed on the vehicle.

Map Slot Logic

MG Flasher uses Slot 0 as the base/default map location and provides four additional switchable locations where valid data is available.

Switchable Maps

Additional slots may contain lower or higher octane calibrations, ethanol blends or custom tuner data. Every active slot must contain valid calibration data.

Control Methods

Use the App or
Your Steering Wheel

Select a valid map slot through MG Flasher Live Control or use the Custom Code Menu on compatible vehicles. Both methods change the active calibration without a new flash.

In-App Control

Change Slots in Live Control

Live Control reads the current state directly from the DME and lets you choose an available Switchable Maps slot in real time. Disabled or invalid slots remain unavailable, helping prevent an incomplete calibration from being selected.

The public workflow is simple, but the map file, vehicle and Custom Code configuration must all support the feature.

Prepare the File

Use a Compatible Map

Select a supported OTS map package or a custom tune with valid switchable map data. Custom tuners must enable the required slots and map switches in the calibration.

Flashing Options

Enable Switchable Maps

Enable the Switchable Maps option in the MG Flasher Custom Options menu during the supported flashing process.

Use Live Control in the app or enter the Custom Code Menu and select Slot 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Confirm that the selected calibration matches the fuel currently in the tank and every required hardware upgrade installed on the vehicle.

The vehicle, ECU software, Custom Code version and the map data inside the active file must all be compatible.

Supported

Gen 1 B48H / B48 / B58

Switchable Maps is supported on selected compatible F-Series and G-Series Generation 1 applications when the required Custom Code and map versions are available.

Map Dependent

Gen 2 B48 / B58

Feature support is available starting with Custom Code v7.1. Selected Gen 2 OTS packages may not provide ready-to-use switchable performance data in every slot, so a compatible custom tune may be required.

The approved engine content lists Switchable Maps as supported for selected S58 vehicles. Exact ECU software, Custom Code and map availability should be confirmed in the MG Flasher app before purchase or flashing.

Custom Tuner

Custom Tune Packages

A custom tuner can create and populate compatible slots for a supported vehicle. Every enabled map in every active slot must contain valid calibration data.

OTS Maps and
Custom Tunes

Switchable Maps can work with compatible MG Flasher OTS packages and properly prepared custom tunes, but the slot contents are not universal.

MG Flasher OTS Maps

Compatible OTS packages can include predefined lower- or higher-octane calibrations and selected ethanol blend slots. The selected file and its release notes determine the actual layout.

Important Requirements

The Slot Must Match

Real-time switching does not remove the normal requirements of the selected calibration.

Fuel

Use the Correct Octane or Ethanol Blend

Never activate a calibration designed for fuel that is not currently in the tank.

Hardware

Install Every Required Upgrade

Do not select a map that requires a downpipe, upgraded fuel pump or other hardware unless it is installed and configured.

Stage 2.5

Upgraded HPFP Required Where Applicable

B58 Stage 2.5 setups referenced in the user manual require a supported upgraded HPFP and downpipe, with the correct HPFP option selected while flashing.

Operation

Make Changes While Stationary

Live Control can change engine behaviour immediately. MG Flasher recommends configuring features while the vehicle is stationary.

Map validation: Disabled or invalid slots cannot be selected in Live Control. Through the Custom Code Menu, an invalid selection can be indicated by a brief tachometer movement to 7000 RPM.

What are Switchable Maps On-The-Fly?

Switchable Maps allows a supported vehicle to change between available map slots in real time without performing a complete ECU reflash for every change.

How many map slots are available?

Compatible setups can use five locations: Slot 0 through Slot 4. Slot 0 is the base/default calibration, while Slots 1–4 are additional switchable locations.

What can be stored in each slot?

A slot may contain a different octane calibration, ethanol blend, power level or custom tuner configuration. The actual slot content depends on the flashed OTS package or custom tune.

Can I switch maps from the MG Flasher app?

Yes, when the vehicle has a compatible Custom Code version installed. Live Control in MG Flasher app version 483 or later can display and select valid Switchable Maps slots in real time.

Can I switch maps using the steering wheel?

Yes, on compatible vehicles. Enter the Custom Code Menu, navigate to the 1000 RPM Switchable Maps submenu, select Slot 0–4 and confirm the selection using the supported UniRocker or RockerCombo configuration.

Why is a slot disabled or marked invalid?

The slot may be disabled in the calibration or may contain incomplete or invalid map data. Live Control blocks those slots, while the Custom Code Menu can indicate an invalid selection with a brief tachometer sweep to 7000 RPM.

Do Switchable Maps work with Gen 2 B48 and B58 vehicles?

Switchable Maps feature support is available for selected Gen 2 B48 and B58 vehicles starting with Custom Code v7.1. However, selected Gen 2 OTS packages may not include ready-to-use performance data in every switchable slot, so a compatible custom tune may be required.

Can a custom tuner create my map slots?

Yes. A compatible custom tuner can enable the required slots, choose which calibration maps switch between them and populate every active slot with valid data for the vehicle's setup.

Can I switch to a higher-octane map before adding the correct fuel?

No. The active calibration must always match the fuel in the tank and the hardware installed on the vehicle. Selecting an incompatible map can create unsafe operating conditions.
