Control Torque Where
Traction Is Most Limited.

A high-output engine can request more torque than the tires can effectively transfer in lower gears. This is especially noticeable on two-wheel-drive vehicles, where repeated wheelspin can reduce usable acceleration even when the engine is capable of producing more output.

Torque By Gear Limiter allows the calibration to specify a separate torque ceiling for each gear. Lower gears can receive a more conservative target, while higher gears can use progressively more of the available engine output.

Torque By Gear Limiter is a calibration option. It does not have a dedicated Custom Code Menu position, Live Control card or Custom Code Diagnostics control. The values are configured in the supported map before or during the flashing workflow.

The correct values depend on engine output, transmission, driven wheels, differential, tire grip, tire temperature, vehicle weight, surface and tuning objective. A custom tuner may use a different strategy from an available OTS configuration.

Increasing a per-gear torque target does not create additional grip or mechanical capacity. Engine output, transmission limits, differential, axles, tires, surface, weather and vehicle condition must all be considered together.
