MG Flasher OEM Function Restoration

OEM Remote
Starter Restored

Restore the factory remote-start function on supported Generation 2 vehicles after ECU unlock. The vehicle must have been equipped with OEM Remote Starter from the factory—MG Flasher does not add aftermarket starter hardware or convert a vehicle that never supported the OEM function. Compatible Custom Code v0.5 or newer re-enables the original factory feature.

What the Feature Does

Keep the Factory
Remote Start Experience.

Some supported Generation 2 ECUs lose access to their factory Remote Starter after the ECU is unlocked. Compatible MG Flasher software can re-enable the original OEM function for supported factory-equipped vehicles.

This is not an aftermarket remote-start installation. The car must already contain the required factory hardware, coding and OEM Remote Starter capability. MG Flasher calls the compatible software layer installed inside the DME Custom Code.

Restoration Process

From ECU Unlock
to OEM Function Restored.

The feature restores an existing factory capability through compatible MG Flasher software.

01 Factory Equipment

Factory-Installed OEM Remote Starter

The vehicle must have been delivered with the OEM Remote Starter system and supporting factory equipment.

02 ECU Security

The DME Is Unlocked

A supported ECU unlock enables OBD flashing, but on affected Gen 2 vehicles it can disable factory remote start.

03 MG Flasher Software

Factory Remote Start Is Re-enabled

Compatible Custom Code v0.5 or newer restores access to the OEM function on supported configurations.

Important Distinction

OEM Restoration.
Not an Added Remote Starter.

MG Flasher does not create factory hardware that is missing from the vehicle.

Compatibility Requirements

Four Conditions Must Match.

Remote Starter support depends on the complete vehicle and software configuration.

01Vehicle Generation

Generation 2

The documented feature applies only to supported Gen 2 vehicles.

02Factory Equipment

OEM Remote Starter

The car must have been equipped with factory remote-start functionality.

03Software

Custom Code v0.5+

A compatible Custom Code release must be available for the exact ECU software.

04Verification

Check Exact Support

Confirm the vehicle, ECU software and available Custom Code before purchasing or flashing.

Do not assume support from the model name alone.

Vehicle year, market, ECU software, factory equipment and unlock status can all affect availability.

Control method: after restoration, the driver continues using the vehicle’s original OEM remote-start controls. Remote Starter is not a CCM submenu or Live Control card.

Factory Hardware

The vehicle still needs all original remote-start hardware and supporting OEM equipment.

Vehicle Conditions

Normal manufacturer conditions and safety checks for remote start continue to apply.

Exact Software Support

Custom Code availability depends on the ECU software installed in the vehicle.

Regional Equipment

OEM Remote Starter equipment and operation can vary by model, market and production configuration.

OEM Control Method

The original vehicle control method remains in use. This feature has no dedicated CCM position or Live Control toggle.

Local Rules & Ventilation

Check local unattended-idling, emissions and noise rules. Never remotely start the vehicle in an enclosed or poorly ventilated area.
