Software Beyond the Factory DME.

MG Flasher Custom Code adds supported functionality directly to the vehicle’s Digital Motor Electronics. It can extend existing OEM behaviour, introduce new controls and provide additional ways to interact with the calibration from the vehicle or the MG Flasher app.

Not every feature is available for every ECU software version. The exact feature set depends on the installed Custom Code release, engine platform, generation, software level and calibration.

Seven features occupy the 1K–7K Custom Code Menu positions. Additional Custom Code functions are controlled through the app, diagnostics, calibration logic or supported hardware integrations without their own CCM tachometer position.

Custom Code v7.1 introduced the Custom Code Menu (CCM). While CCM is active, the tachometer temporarily represents menu positions and values, while the Check Engine Light icon communicates menu status, submenu confirmation and selected feature activity.

CCM v7.1+

The tachometer acts as a temporary menu only while CCM is active. Selecting a 1K–7K position opens the corresponding feature submenu. These positions are menu values—not engine-speed activation thresholds. Normal OEM tachometer operation returns after exiting CCM or after the menu times out.

CCM root menu or status indication

Slow CEL blinks are visible while the CCM root menu is active. The same slow pattern can also appear during Ethanol Content Display or after a Valet Mode limit has been exceeded.

01Entry requirement Start with the engine running

CCM entry requires the engine to be running and a supported steering-wheel input configuration.

02Temporary display RPM positions are menu values

The 1K–7K positions identify features only while CCM is active. They are not activation thresholds.

03Menu timeout Approximately 15 seconds without input

If the menu times out before confirmation, CCM exits and the pending selection is not saved.

04Invalid selection Brief 7K tachometer sweep

An unsupported or invalid selection can be indicated by a short sweep to the 7K position.

Supported steering-wheel inputs

UniRocker is the default configuration.

RockerCombo is not available on every vehicle. Connect with MG Flasher and use Diagnostics → Read ECU Info to confirm whether RockerCombo is supported by the exact vehicle and ECU software.

CCM timeout vs. ECU fault

A continuously illuminated CEL may not be a menu signal.

If the Check Engine Light remains continuously illuminated beyond the CCM timeout configured in the app when flashing, it may indicate an ECU fault according to its OEM function. Open the MG Flasher diagnostic menu and read DTCs to verify the cause.

EEPROM Storage

Your On-The-Fly Settings Can Persist.

From Custom Code v7.0, supported On-The-Fly settings can be stored in ECU EEPROM. This helps preserve selected feature states between flashes, battery changes and maintenance work.

The documented saving procedure requires an ignition cycle. Custom Code v7.0.1 resolved the original v7.0 issue that prevented the saving process from being triggered correctly.

Diagnostics availability begins with compatible Custom Code v6.9+. Selected Anti-Lag diagnostics require v7.0+. Ethanol Override, Exhaust Flap, Radiator Flap and Valet Mode controls require compatible v7.1+ configurations, while supported Custom Code DTC logging is available on compatible v7.2+ setups.
